Live Stats

WEST CHESTER, Pa.
– The No. 1 team in the nation wasn’t the No. 1 team in the region when the field of six for the 2012 NCAA Division II Field Hockey Tournament was announced on Monday. Still, the top-ranked West Chester Golden Rams will host No. 5 Indiana (Pa.) at Vonnie Gros Field Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in the first round.

Tickets to the NCAA Division II Field Hockey Tournament are $7 for adults and $3 for students and children. No complimentary tickets will be available. No passes will be honored.

West Chester (17-2) faces IUP (14-5) for the third time this season with all three meetings at the friendly confines of Vonnie Gros Field. The Golden Rams won the regular-season encounter, 3-2, before taking the PSAC semifinal matchup by a measure of 2-1.

Saturday is the first step in defense of its national championship for West Chester University. The Golden Rams still consider themselves the team to beat in the field and now have to prove it on the field. The winner of Saturday’s quarterfinal advances to the national semifinals, which will be in Lowell, Mass. on Friday, Nov. 9 with the 2012 national championship game slated for Sunday, Nov. 11.
