West Chester Drops 1-0 Decision To Wingate At Catawba Tournament

Box Score Box Score

SALISBURY, N.C.
- West Chester University dropped a rain-shortened, 1-0, affair to Wingate University in the opener of the Catawba Tournament Friday afternoon. Its second game against Winston-Salem State was rained out.

West Chester had a 2-0 count on its leadoff batter in the top of the seventh inning when the skies opened up over Catawba's softball complex. The game was suspended, but could not be resumed. Devon Utterback (1-1) was the hard-luck loser inside the circle for the Golden Rams.

West Chester will play Winston-Salem State Saturday at 12 p.m. and then take on Lenoir-Rhyne at 4 p.m. The Rams' game against Glenville State, originally scheduled for Saturday, will take place on Sunday morning at 9 a.m.
