SALISBURY, N.C. – Sophomore Charlotte Conaway went 3-for-5 with a pair of doubles, a triple and a pair of RBI as West Chester defeated Winston-Salem State, 19-0, Saturday afternoon. No. 12 Lenoir-Rhyne downed West Chester, 7-2, later in the day.
West Chester (3-2) dropped a rain-shortened 1-0 decision to Wingate University (N.C.) on Friday. Devon Utterback (2-1), who pitched well in that loss, threw a two-hit, complete-game shutout against Winston-Salem State Saturday.
Jess Russ and Nicole Cruts each were 2-for-3 in the win over WSSU Saturday.
Sophomore Kelly Anderson and senior Abby Block each hit a home run, but 12th-ranked Lenoir-Rhyne downed West Chester, 7-2, in the Catawba Tournament Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (3-2) defeated Winston-Salem State, 19-0, earlier in the afternoon. Kim Murl (1-1) suffered the loss inside the circle for the Golden Rams.
West Chester takes on Glenville State Sunday morning at 9 a.m. They will take on Queen’s at 12 noon and host Catawba at 2 p.m.
