SALISBURY, N.C. – West Chester University took two out of three games on the final day of the Catawba Tournament to finish 3-3 in North Carolina over the weekend.
 
West Chester (5-3) downed Glenville State, 9-1, in the morning and then started off the afternoon with an 8-2 triumph over Queen’s (N.C.), before falling to tournament host Catawba, 4-1, in the finale down south.
 
Freshman Kelsey Hannold (1-0) picked up her first career win inside the circle against Glenville State in the morning. Senior Nicole Cruts was 2-for-3 with a home run and four RBI. Abby Block hit a home run for the second straight day and finished with a pair of RBI. Kelly Anderson was also 2-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Megan Kelly was 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored.
 
Sophomore Kim Murl (2-1) picked up the win over Queens. Junior Devon Utterback (2-2) suffered the loss to Catawba in the nightcap. J.P. Norris was 1-for-3 with the lone run batted in. She scored Jess Russ with the Golden Rams’ only run of the game.
 
West Chester returns home for its 2012 home opener next Sunday, March 4 against Shepherd University. First pitch of game one is set for 1 p.m.
