SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - West Chester University suffered its first field hockey loss of the young season at Shippensburg, 3-0, Saturday.
Shippensburg scored all three of its goals in a six-minute time span surrounding halftime. The Raiders led 1-0 on a goal with less than three minutes to play before the break, and they scored twice in the first three minutes of the second half. Two of Shippensburg’s goals came from Taylor Bender, and a third from Bre White.
Carly Buckwalter and Kelsi Lykens led the Golden Rams with three shots a piece. Golden Rams goalkeeper Kristin Arnold made seven saves in the loss.
Shippensburg dominated in shots, holding a 20-9 advantage against West Chester.
The Golden Rams (1-1) hit the road on Tuesday as they travel to Bloomsburg for 4 p.m. matchup. West Chester looks to get its first PSAC win of the season.
