Women Run Out Of Time In Comeback Bid; Fall To Kutztown, 79-74

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Senior Alex Lennon put up a total of 18 points, along with 12 rebounds and five blocked shots, but visiting Kutztown was able to hold off a late-second half push by the Golden Rams to come away with a 79-74 victory in the PSAC East opener for both schools inside Hollinger Field House on Wednesday night.
 
West Chester (8-6, 5-5 PSAC) has now dropped its last two contests while Kutztown (8-6, 6-4 PSAC) moved into sole possession of third place in the Eastern Division standings.

The Golden Bears held their largest lead of the night at 26 points (66-40) with eight minutes remaining in the game when the Golden Rams made their final run. West Chester scored 34 of its 49 second-half points in the last eight minutes, closing out the tilt on a 34-13 run. The Rams just dug themselves too big a hole to crawl out of at the end of the night.

Lennon scored 15 of her team-best 18 points in the final eight minutes of the second half. She led four Golden Rams in double figures. Freshmen Brittany Sicinski racked up a total of 14 points with career highs in rebounds (7) and steals (6).
 
Ambreelinne Ortman added 13 points and grabbed seven rebounds for the night. Freshmen Dallas Ely put up 12 points, eight of those in the final eight minutes, while grabbing four caroms.

Kutztown's Ashley Wood led all scorers with 26 points. Alyssa Bonenberger scored 13 points and grabbed 13 rebounds, 10 of those boards came in the first half.
 
West Chester returns to Hollinger Field House to take on first-place Millersville Saturday afternoon at 1 p.m. in an Eastern Division matchup of the PSAC conference.
