Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Shippensburg's Bre White scored in the 61st minute, lifting the visiting Raiders to a 2-1 victory over host West Chester at Vonnie Gros Field Wednesday afternoon.

Shippensburg (11-0, 4-0 PSAC) remains unbeaten on the year with the win while West Chester (7-3, 3-1) saw its four-game winning streak come to a halt.

White gathered in an outlet pass at midfield and battled one-on-one with West Chester's defender down the middle of the field. White then chipped the ball over a charging Golden Rams' goalkeeper and whacked it into the vacated net with nine minutes left to play for the eventual game-winner.

Kelsi Lykens had pulled the hosts even at 1-apiece in the 44th minute when she lifted a shot off a penalty corner inside the near post past an outstretched Shippensburg goalkeeper. In an otherwise very evenly played contest, West Chester held a 10-4 advantage in corner opportunities. The Rams were only able to convert that one attempt, however.

Shippensburg's Lauren Taylor opened the scoring in the 16th minute of the game when she poked in a rebound of her own initial shot.

Audree Bonavita (4-2) made four saves in the cage for West Chester. Carenna Neely (11-0) made five saves for Shippensburg. The win sets up a showdown of No. 1 vs. No. 2 on Saturday when Millersville and Shippensburg come together.

West Chester takes on Ursinus in the 35th Annual Eleanor Snell Cup in Collegeville, Pa. Game time is set for 1 p.m. The Golden Rams have won the Snell Cup in each of the past two years, evening that series at 15-15-4. West Chester holds an overall advantage of 29-25-12 in the all-time series between the two traditional regional field hockey powers.
