Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Carly Yost scored the only goal of the game in the 82nd  minute to lead West Chester to an important regular-season 1-0 PSAC victory over Edinboro, Saturday afternoon at Rockwell Field on Senior Day.

West Chester (11-6, 10-6 PSAC) moved into sixth place in the conference, and will travel to Kuztown on Tuesday at 1 p.m. for a PSAC quarterfinal match. Edinboro (12-5-1, 10-5-1 PSAC) finished fourth in the league and will be home to face Shippensburg.

Before the match five West Chester seniors were recognized for their contributions and accomplishments: Lauren Heisse, Lexi Lentz, Addie Lucci, co-captains Noelle Harner and Marie D'Angelo.

The Golden Rams got on the board when Dana Hunt sent a long cross in from the right side off of a free kick, the ball found Haley Magiaruga who settled and deflected the ball to Yost who found an opening in the center of the box and she beat the keeper with a shot low into the left corner. The goal was number seven on the year for the junior and broke the scoreless draw, with less than nine minutes remaining.

The final minutes of action were hectic as the Fighting Scots searched for the equalizer, and the Golden Rams attempted to keep the ball away.

With just under three minutes to play West Chester keeper Alex Srolis was in perfect position to stop an Edinboro cross attempt, with an open opponent behind her.

Srolis made two saves in goal for the Golden Rams. Meghan Kelly kept the Fighting Scots even early on, as West Chester earned five corners in the first ten minutes of action, she finished with six saves in the contest.

The Golden Rams open up PSAC Tournament action on Tuesday at 1 p.m. when they travel to Kutztown. The Golden Bears were 3-2 victors when the teams faced off in the second game of the season on Sep. 7 at Keystone Field. Kutztown secured a third place finish in the league with a 7-1 win over Mercyhurst.
