WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Alayna Brown scored her first career hat trick to help no.4 West Chester to a 6-1 victory over East Stroudsburg in PSAC Quarterfinal action Tuesday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field.
The Golden Rams earned a rematch with no.2 Millersville at 3:30 p.m. at Shippensburg on Friday. No. 1 Shippensburg hosts no. 6 Bloomsburg at 1:00 p.m.
West Chester started applying pressure from the start and opened the scoring at the 2:15 mark, when
Nancy Stehman started the play with a corner and finished it.
Marnie Kusakavitch deflected a
Kelsi Lykens shot to Stehman who was all alone on the left side of the net to make a 1-0.
Brown scored the first of her three on a beautiful individual effort beating her defender off the baseline and chipping the ball over the keeper to make it 2-0.
The goal was set up by a perfect pass from
Abbey Hordendorf, who hit
Alexis Versak in stride; she then sent the ball up to Brown, who did the rest.
Lykens made it a three goal advantage with a blast off of a corner from
Stef Pirri and Stehman, to end the first half scoring.
Brown added to the lead with her second of the game in the 42
nd minute, controlling a
Megan Callanan pass and patiently sliding it past the keeper.
She completed her hat trick with her 11
th of the season by tipping home a Kelsi Lykens shot two minutes later.
After ESU got on the board, Callanan notched her 15
th of the season with a solo effort, to close out the scoring.
Audree Bonavita was victorious in goal for the Golden Rams making three saves. Alexis Charles made 14 saves in goal for the Warriors who end there season with and 8-11 record.
Next up for the Golden Rams is a trip to Shippensburg on Friday for a semifinal matchup with no. 2 and second seeded Millersville at 3:30 p.m. The Marauders captured both matches during the regular-season 3-1 at Vonnie Gros and a 2-0 shutout in Millersville.
