Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

TROUTVILLE, Va. – West Chester splits a pair of contests in the morning, falling to Ohio Valley, 3-1, before bouncing back for a 16-0 win over Bluefield Saturday morning at the West Virginia Wesleyan Tournament.

West Chester (12-6) saw its six-game winning streak come to a close in the opener.

Devin Utterback, took the loss against Ohio Valley in the first of three games Saturday.  Utterback allowed two runs in the second and was able to hold off OVU’s efforts until the seventh, when one more run was scored.

Kate Skokowski came in the relief of Utterback and was able to get the Golden Rams out of the seventh, but West Chester’s offense just could not get going all morning.

Kelly Anderson led the offensive efforts going 3-for-4 including one triple in the third inning that tuned into the only run for the Rams.  Murl got the RBI with a single.  The Rams only tallied four hits in the game, two of them coming in the first inning.

In the second game, Skokowski threw a two-hit shutout, striking out four to top Bluefield College, 16-0.

West Chester’s offense had no trouble getting started this game. Five runs were scored in the first inning, and the six in the fifth to highlight the Golden Rams’ effort at the plate.

Anderson went 4-for-4, finishing 7-for-8 on the day and tallying three RBI. She doubled in the fourth. Murl hit a two-run homer in the third.

West Chester takes on Davis & Elkins at 5 p.m. in the third and final game of the day.
