FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Kate Skokowski and Devon Utterback each threw one-hit shutouts as visiting West Chester swept a non-league softball doubleheader from Fayetteville State Tuesday afternoon.
West Chester (14-6) took game one by a score of 3-0, and then won game two, 9-0, in five innings.
Megan Kelly was 5-for-6 with four runs scored in the doubleheader. She went 3-for-4 in the first game of the double dip. Jillian Murray was 2-for-4 with three RBI, including a two-run triple, in the nightcap. Kelly went 2-for-2 with three runs scored in that game as well.
Kelly Anderson was 2-for-4 with a double in the second game.
Utterback (7-2) struck out eight in the opener while Skokowski (6-4) sent down five in the nightcap.
West Chester plays its home opener on March 24 against Chestnut Hill.
