2013 PSAC Softball Tournament Bracket
LOCK HAVEN, Pa. - West Chester University opens play in the 2013 PSAC Softball postseason tournament on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. when the Golden Rams take on Lock Haven University.
West Chester (32-17) is the third seed out of the Eastern Division and will take on Lock Haven (28-12) the top seed in the Central Division in the first game of the tournament. The four-day championship is a double-elimination tournament to be held from May 1-4, at Quakertown Veteran's Park in Quakertown, Pa.
Tickets to the 2013 PSAC Softball Tournament are $10 per day. Children 12 years old and under are free. Students from PSAC member institutions with a valid school ID are also admitted free.
West Chester is making its fourth straight appearance in the postseason conference tournament. The Golden Rams reached the PSAC Championship Game in 2011, losing to Indiana (Pa.). West Chester is 7-7 all-time in the PSAC Tournament. The Golden Rams are 4-1 against the Lady Eagles in the postseason tournament.
West Chester finished the regular-season with a conference record above .500 for the third time in the last four years, tying for second place in the PSAC East with Kutztown. The Bears earned the second seed over the Rams by virtue of its 3-1 record against WCU in head-to-head competition.
In the first round of games, East’s No. 1 Shippensburg will face the winner between Central’s No. 3 Bloomsburg and West’s No. 3 Gannon. No. 1 seed out of the West, California (Pa.), will square off against the Central Division’s No. 2 squad Mansfield. In the final first round game, The West’s No. 2 seed Mercyhurst will play East’s No. 2 Kutztown.
