SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. - Host Shippensburg University scored a pair of second half goals to come away with a 4-2 victory over visiting West Chester University in a non-league field hockey contest Tuesday afternoon at Robb Sports Complex.

West Chester (2-1) suffered its first loss of the season while Shippensburg (3-0) remained undefeated on the young year.

With the game knotted a 2-apiece aft halftime, Shippensburg's Megan Jett poked in a rebound early in the second frame to put the Raiders on top for good, 3-2. Lauren Taylor then finished off a feed from Bre Wihite into an open net in the 68th minute to put the game away for the hosts.

Nancy Stehman and Kelsi Lykens scored five and a half minutes apart in the first half to give the Golden Rams a short-lived 2-1 advantage. Lykens' goal came on a penalty stroke in the 25th minute. However, Shippensburg tied the game in the 33rd minute on a penalty stroke of its own to send the game into the break all tied up.

Shippensburg's Taylor Bender re-directed a reverse-stick pass from Bre White past West Chester goalkeeper Sarah Krause four minutes into the contest to give the Raiders a 1-0 lead.

Krause (2-1) made two saves in the loss. Shippensburg's Careena Neely (3-0) also stopped a pair of shots to pick up the win.

West Chester travels to No. 5 Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday for a 1 p.m. game.
