Box Score WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Junior
Alexis Versak (Limerick, Pa. / Spring-Ford) registered a pair of goals in the second half to help West Chester (9-2, 6-1 PSAC) defeat Limestone College, 4-0, in a non-conference matchup Sunday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field.
Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, N.J. / Glassboro) blasted her 12th goal of the season in the 31st minute to give the Golden Rams an early lead. Picking up an assist to setup Toppi's goal from the left side was
Dayle Paustian (Martinsville, N.J. / Bridgewater-Raritan).West Chester led 1-0 at halftime, and then gained momentum in the second half with help from Versak.
In the 47th minute,
Alayna Brown (Telford, Pa. / Souderton) found an open Versak for the goal to spark the Golden Rams. Versak tacked on another goal at the 56th mark to secure the victory.
Marnie Kusakavitch (Pittston, Pa./Holy Redeemer) contributed as well, finding the back of the cage to post her 10th goal on the season.
Limestone College (10-2) suffered only their second loss of the season as goalkeeper, Tabria Cochran registered 8 saves, while giving up four goals.
Sophomore
Sarah Krause (6-2)
(Lancaster, Pa. / Conestoga Valley) picked up the win in the cage with four saves in the full 70 minutes to record her third shutout of the season.
West Chester had a 15 to 5 advantage in shots over Limestone.
The Golden Rams return to action on October 18th as they travel to Indiana, Pa., for a matchup with Indiana University of Pennsylvania at 11 a.m.
