WEST CHESTER, Pa. - West Chester University's women's soccer team opens the postseason with a Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference Quarterfinal Round game against Gannon at Rockwell Field at 11 a.m. Tuesday morning.

West Chester (15-1-1, 14-1-1 PSAC) enters the postseason tournament as the second seed, after tying for the regular-season title, but losing the tie-breaker to top-seeded East Stroudsburg. Gannon University (9-8-0, 9-7-0) enters the playoffs as the seventh seed, securing two wins in the final week of play to earn a spot in the conference tournament. The Lady Knights' offense exploded with six second-half goals in a 7-1 win over visiting Indiana (Pa.) Oct. 28, followed by a 4-1 victory over host Clarion Nov. 1. In the last two games of the regular season, the Lady Knights outshot their opponent by a combined total of 68-9.

Tickets to all rounds of the 2014 PSAC Tournament are $7 for adults and $2 for children. There are no comp tickets available for playoff games. Only PSAC passes will be accepted. Students from PSAC member institutions with a valid ID will be admitted free of charge as well. Parking for the quarterfinal round game at Rockwell Field Tuesday will be across the street in Farrell Stadium's lot. The soccer lot will be blocked off for handicapped parking, game officials and event staff working the event.

The winner of today's quarterfinal round match advances to the conference semifinals on the weekend. East Stroudsburg will host the semifinals and finals if the Warriors win their quarterfinal round game against Indiana (Pa.) Tuesday afternoon. A win by West Chester, coupled with a loss by ESU, would give the Golden Rams home field advantage in the semifinals and finals this weekend.

The Golden Rams reached the conference championship game a year ago, losing the title game to California (Pa.). The defending champions are the fourth seed this year and host fifth-seeded Slippery Rock Tuesday. Kutztown hosts Edinboro in the other PSAC quarterfinal on Tuesday. The eventual PSAC Champion will receive an automatic bid to the 2014 NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Tournament, which begins Nov. 14 and 16.

West Chester is making its 12th straight appearance in the postseason tournament. Its four conference titles are the most by any school in the PSAC, and the Golden Rams show an overall tournament record of 12-9-2. West Chester faces Gannon in the postseason for the second straight year. The Rams captured the PSAC semifinal contest between the two schools a year ago at Cal, 3-0. The Golden Rams won the regular-season meeting between this fall by a 2-0 measure on Sept. 20 in Erie, Pa. West Chester is 6-1-1 all-time against the Lady Knights.

West Chester University's men's soccer squad will host Slippery Rock right after the women's game Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 p.m. at Rockwell Field.
