LOCK HAVEN, Pa. – West Chester University Sr. shortstop J.P. Norris was named the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference East Softball Player of the Week announced by the league offices Monday afternoon.
Norris, who is the first West Chester player selected as player of the week in 2014, went a combined 5-8 with six RBI and three runs scored Saturday as West Chester split a doubleheader at Shepherd University.
The senior went 2-5 in the opener with a RBI and two runs scored in West Chester's 13-10 loss, while recording four putouts and four assists in the field.
Norris was even more effective in the nightcap going 3-3 with a pair of doubles and five RBI in helping West Chester to a 13-5 victory and improve to 8-6 on the season.
The Golden Rams head south for the Dot Richardson Spring Games in Clermont, Fla. beginning with a 1 p.m. start on Friday against Northwood University (Mi).
