Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

LOCK HAVEN, Pa – No. 23 West Chester University softball could only push across one run in losing both ends of a doubleheader at Lock Haven University in PSAC East action Sunday afternoon.

The Golden Rams (26-13, 13-5 PSAC East) had its five game winning streak snapped in the 3-0 game one loss. The Eagles (12-21, 7-11 PSAC East), captured the season series three games to one with a 4-1 victory in the second game.

In the opening game, Lock Haven broke a scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth with an unearned run off Kim Murl, the only run she allowed. The Haven tacked on two insurance runs off of Katie Erb who came in to pitch the sixth.

The powerful Golden Rams attack was shut down by Rachel Mouillesseaux who went the distance and allowed only three singles, Murl fell to 8-4 despite not giving up an earned run and surrendering only three hits in five innings of work.

In the nightcap Lock Haven jumped on starter Micaela Mcspadden with single runs in the first and second innings, before West Chester finally crossed home plate.

Kim Begley doubled to open the top of the third, Ali Vavala then reached on a bunt and J.P. Norris singled to bring home Begley to make it a 2-1 game. West Chester had runners on second and third with no one out, but could not push across the tying or go ahead runs.

The Eagles responded with the two runs in the bottom of the inning to build the lead to 4-1 and end the scoring.

McSpadden suffered her first career loss to fall to 9-1 on the season allowing three earned runs on seven hits in 2.1 innings. Erb came on in the third and pitched 3.2 scoreless innings in relief. Jessie Probst allowed only five hits in the complete game victory.
