Directions To Veteran's ParkPSAC Softball Tournament HomepageQUAKERTOWN, Pa. – West Chester's softball squad earned the top seed out of the Eastern Division and will open the 2014 Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference softball tournament against Edinboro on Thursday at 1:30 p.m.
West Chester (34-17) is making its fifth straight trip to the PSAC Tournament. Last year, West Chester reached the conference semifinals, before falling to California (Pa.). The Golden Rams reached the PSAC Championship Game in 2011, losing to Indiana (Pa.). West Chester is 9-9 all-time in the PSAC Tournament.
Tickets to the 2014 PSAC Softball Tournament are $7 for adults and $2 for students. Students with a valid ID from any of the PSAC member institutions will be admitted free of charge. The three-day postseason tournament will take place at the same venue as last year – Veterans Park in Quakertown, Pa.
West Chester wrapped up its first outright PSAC Eastern Division title on the last day of the regular season with a 2-0 shutout over Bloomsburg in the second game of their doubleheader. Edinboro (17-22-1) locked up the fourth seed in the Western Division on the final day of the regular season as well. The Fighting Scots are making their first trip to the conference playoffs since 2010.
West Chester is currently ranked fourth in the latest NCAA Atlantic Regional poll. The top eight schools qualify for the NCAA Tournament, which will be held after the PSAC Tournament.
