Box Score WEST CHESTER, Pa. – A
Carly Yost (North Wales, Pa. / North Penn) goal in the 66
th minute was the difference maker as No. 23 West Chester pulled out a 1-0 win against Edinboro University on a rainy Saturday afternoon in Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference women's soccer action at Rockwell field.
The Golden Rams (4-0, 3-0 PSAC) prevailed in a very even matchup, both teams found it difficult to keep their footing, as the players were slipping and sliding all over the turf. The Fighting Scots fell to 0-3-1 all conference tilts.
Yost's goal came off of a pass from teammate
Lexi Lentz (Chambersburg, Pa. / Chambersburg Area) allowing Yost to have a clear shot at the goal. She fired it past the diving goalkeeper on the left hand side of the net for her third of the season and the only goal of the game.
Each team had nine shots in the game, West Chester with five of them on goal, while Edinboro had four on goal. West Chester also had six corner kicks, to Edinboro's four.
Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa. / Downingtown East) was in goal for West Chester and she registered four saves. She has now not allowed a goal in the past three games. The only goal she allowed this season came in the first game against Wilmington.
West Chester was very close to a goal in the first half when
Cara Deola's (Churchville, Pa. / Council Rock South) shot ricocheted off the post.
West Chester will try to keep up the momentum when they travel to Erie, Pa. to take on Mercyhurst University for a 1 PM match Friday afternoon.
