Box Score WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Third-ranked West Chester University got goals from
Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) and
Dayle Paustian (Martinsville, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and shut out visiting Mercyhurst, 2-0, at Vonnie Gros Field Wednesday afternoon.
West Chester (13-3, 5-3 PSAC), which found out that it was ranked third in the first NCAA regional rankings, solidified its position for postseason with the win while Mercyhurst (7-8, 4-4) is still fighting for its playoff lives.
Toppi opened the scoring off an assist from Paustian, who finished with three points in the game. Paustian then added another tally later, which was all sophomore goalkeeper
Brianna Magner (7-1) (Egg Harbor, N.J./Egg Harbor Twp.) needed.
West Chester travels to Slippery Rock on Saturday.
