Edinboro Slips by West Chester, 2-1

Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester found themselves behind early by two goals in the first half and could not get back on track in time, falling to Edinboro, 2-1, on a rainy Saturday afternoon inside Rockwell Field.

The Golden Rams (7-3, 7-3 PSAC) were 3-1in games where they were shutout in the first half coming into today's match up, but would suffer their second loss in that department by one goal. Edinboro (7-3, 6-2 PSAC) out shot WCU 14-9 in the offensive zone and would prevent them from scoring until the 80th minute of play.

Junior midfielder Shannon Hoeveler (Lancaster, Pa. / Cocalico) scored her first goal of the season to cut Edinboro's lead in half, but it was too late as the Fighting Scots were able to keep the Golden Rams from attempting another shot in the last six minutes of the match.

Fighting Scots' forward Hallie Hammer nailed down the win with two goals on the day for her fourth and fifth of the season. She scored the first goal on a shot that beat the keeper left and then another on an assist by teammate Ashley Mutkus; both coming in the first period.

West Chester will look to rebound at Wilmington University (Del.) Oct. 6th at 3:30 p.m. in their first non-conference match of the season.
