Mary Spisak (Boiling Springs, Pa./Boiling Springs) scored two goals and assisted on another to lead No. 4 West Chester to a 4-1 victory over visiting No. 8 Limestone Sunday afternoon at Vonnie Gros Field.
West Chester (8-2) also got one goala and one assist from
Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) and a pair of assists from
Alexis Versak (Limerick, Pa./Spring-Ford)Â Limestone (6-3) spoiled Rams goalkeeper
Brianna Magner (3-0 (Egg Harbor, N.J./Egg Harbor Twp.) attempt at her first career shutout with a tally in the 69th minute.
Both of Spisak's markers came off penalty corners. She opened the scoring in the 21st minute with her third of the season. Then, she tipped in a shot from Versak while framing the cage on the left post in the 42nd minute to extend West Chester's lead to 3-0. That tally came five minutes after the Golden Rams had made it a 2-0 game on a shot from
Kristina Scherrer (Enola, Pa./Cumberland Valley) off yet another corner opportunity.
Toppi notched her team-leading 10th goal of the season in the 67h minute to put the hosts out in front 4-0.
Magner was called on to make just two saves while Scherrer recorded her fifth defensive save of the season to help out Magner in the second half.
West Chester, which just won all three of its contests on the current homestand, hit the road next Saturday for a showdown with No. 5 Bloomsburg.
