Scarlett Walsh Hat Trick Propels West Chester Past Wilmington, 7-0

NEWARK, Del. – Jr., Scarlett Walsh (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) registered a natural hat trick in the first half to lead visiting West Chester to a 7-0 non-league victory over host Wilmington (Del.) Tuesday afternoon at the WU Athletics Complex.
 
West Chester (8-3) added four goals in the second half to come away with the win over Wilmington (5-4).
 
Walsh scored in the 12th, 38th and 45th minute of the game to give the visitors a comfortable lead heading into halftime. Marissa Valenti (Manassas, Va./Osbourn Park) made it 4-0 with a marker in the 58th minute. Sara Bennis (Lancaster, Pa./Penn Manor) and Kara Parvel (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) each picked up assists in the win.

Lexi Brown (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) scored two goals late in the contest, sandwiched around a tally from Cynthia Hagerty (Hockessin, Del./Alexis I. DuPont). Hagerty also added an assist on Brown's final goal of the game.

Madeline Barretti (Flemington, N.J./Hunterdon Central) assisted on Brown's first marker.
 
Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) (8-3) started the game and picked up the win while registering one save in goal over 75 minutes. Madi Mitchell (Wall Twp., N.J./Wall) played the final 15 minutes and recorded one save.
 
West Chester hosts Indiana (Pa.) on Saturday at 12 p.m.
