Box Score 2 WEST CHESTER, Pa. – Erin Quense hit a grand slam in game two, and West Chester's pair of freshman hurlers allowed just three combined hits in the two games as the Golden Rams swept visiting Mansfield, 14-0 and 12-1 in a pair of five-inning affairs Thursday.

West Chester (12-6, 2-0 PSAC East) scored 26 runs and banged out 26 hits total in eight innings at the plate. Meanwhile, freshman left-hander Amanda Houck (5-1) tossed a one-hitter in the opener, and freshman Brooke Harner (4-5) threw a two-hitter in the nightcap. Mansfield's Hannah Secord broke up a five-inning no-hit bid by Houck with one out in the top of the fifth inning.

In the opener, the Golden Rams sent 11 batters to the plate during a seven-run second, and then followed that up with four more runs in the third and three more in the fourth. Sarah Derstine went 2-for-3 with four RBI, and Erin Whitman went 2-for-4 with three RBI. Lauren Scarpato hit a bases-clearing, three-run double in the bottom of the fourth, pinch-hitting for Derstine.

Houck walked three and struck out two in her five innings of work.

West Chester scored five runs in the first inning of game two, and then posted a pair of runs in the third and added another five-spot in the fourth to shorten the game.

Laura Altenburger hit a RBI single, and Quense followed with her grand slam in the fourth inning. Derstine tripled in a run during the Rams' five-run first. She finished game two 2-for-2 with a pair of runs scored and RBI, making her 4-for-5 with five RBI on the day. Whitman finished 2-for-3, leaving her at 4-for-7 with four RBI in the twinbill.

Harner's final line read one run on two hits, one walk and a career-high 11 strikeouts.

West Chester travels to Millersville for another PSAC East doubleheader on Saturday afternoon.
