No. 7 Softball Squad Splits Two Games In Florida

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

CLERMONT, Fla. - West Chester University's softball team split two games at the National Training Center Monday afternoon, falling to Limestone, 3-0, before bouncing back for a 7-6 win over Urbana University.

West Chester (6-2) heads into its off-day on Tuesday, after holding off a late rally from Urbana. Amanda Houck (1) came on in the seventh in relief of Brooke Harner (2-1) to register her first save of the season. The Golden Rams were out in front 7-4, before Urbana rallied for two runs in the seventh. However, Houck came on and slammed the door to preserve the win for WCU.

Erin Whitman and Ali Vavala each had a triple in the game. Shannon Gray, running for Whitman, scored on a double from Madison Kelly. Vavala came home on a sacrifice fly by Sarah Walasavage. "Wally" had the big bang, a 3-run home run, her second of the season, over the right-center field fence earlier in the game.

Harner picked up her second win of the season in relief of starter Ashley Flesch.

In the first game, Limestone capitalized on three West Chester errors to score three runs in a 3-0 win. The Saints pitchers kept the Golden Rams' bats quiet for much of the game.
