West Chester Blanked by CAL, 1-0

WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester out shot California (Pa.) 14-7, but were unable to find the back of the net as the Golden Rams would fall to the Vulcans ,1-0, inside Rockwell Field Saturday afternoon.

The Golden Rams (4-2-0, 4-2-0) put themselves in great position to score after forcing five corner kick opportunities, but could not capitalize and would fall one goal short in the loss. CAL's defense camer up with a couple of huge steals down the stretch to force West Chester back into their end of the field and seconds running off the clock.

Vulcans' defender Daniela Dell'Aquila scored what turned out to be the game winner in the 16th minute of the first period to give her team a 1-0 lead at the half. The goal would be Dell'Aquila's first goal of the season. Goalkeeper Megahn Jayes played the entire game, making six saves to complete the shutout.

Golden Rams' goalkeeper Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa. / Downingtown East) played all 90 minutes between the posts, allowing one goal on a total of five shots in the losing effort.

West Chester will try to rebound as they hit the road for a match up with Mansfield on Sept. 23rd at 2:30 p.m.
