Box Score BLOOMSBURG, Pa. – West Chester women's soccer kicked off the 2015 regular season with a road win over PSAC rival Bloomsburg, 3-0, inside Steph Pettit Stadium Thursday evening.
The Golden Rams (1-0) began the first game of the season with excellent defense, keeping the Huskies' offense off the board. Bloomsburg (0-1) had opportunities to score, after forcing four corner kicks in the first half (five total for the game), but could not capitalize.
Erica Hansen (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) led off the scoring with a shot from 25 yards out that landed in the back left croner of the net.
Kara Parvel (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) then capped off the first half in the 43rd minute to give West Chester a 2-0 lead heading into the half.
Haley Mangiaruga (North Wales, Pa./North Penn) added to the offense, kicking a shot over the goalie's head in the second half to round out the scoring for the game.
Sophomore Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) made three saves and played every minute in goal for the Golden Rams to capture her first shutout of the season.
WCU will head home for a noon start with PSAC rival Pitt-Johnstown this Saturday inside Rockwell Field.
