Box Score WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester's defense continued its dominance by preventing the Pitt-Johnstown Mountain Lions from attempting a single shot and secure a 2-0 victory inside Rockwell Field Saturday afternoon.
Â
The Golden Rams (2-0) kept putting on the pressure by keeping the ball in UPJ's zone for the majority of the game. Pitt-Johnstown (0-2) suffered its second-straight loss to begin the season as they were unable to get an offensive push against West Chester's defense.
Â
Haley Mangiaruga (North Wales, Pa./North Penn), after scoring her first goal two days ago, doubled her output today with two goals to lead the Golden Rams to a 2-0 start to the 2015 season. History repeated itself as she scored both goals in the first half – the same offensive output that the junior put together in last year's matchup with the Mountain Lions.
Â
Junior goalkeeper
Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East)Â (2-0) completed her second consecutive shutout without having to make a single save throughout the game.
Â
West Chester will hit the road for a back-to-back series against Mercyhurst on Sept. 11 at noon and then again the next day on Sept. 12 to face Gannon for a 5 p.m. start.
