Danbury Conn. – West Chester University's freshman defender
Maya Gulliksen (Piscataway, N.J. / Piscataway) claimed ECAC Division II rookie of the week honors, which was announced by the same organization Tuesday afternoon.
Gulliksen played a critical role in a pair of West Chester victories this past weekend.
The freshman helped hold Bloomsburg to seven total shots, leading the Golden Rams past No. 7 Bloomsburg in a PSAC matchup, 2-1, Saturday afternoon.
The following day, Gulliksen recorded two points in a 3-1 victory over the No.7 Ursinus Bears, who are one of the top teams in Division III. The Piscataway native notched her fourth goal of the season off a penalty corner in the second half against Ursinus.
Additionally, she stifled the Bears' offense to only a total of five shots.
This is Gulliksen's first award in her young career at West Chester University.
