Box Score

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - Dayle Paustian (Martinsville, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) and Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) each scored a pair of goals to lead 10th-ranked West Chester to a 5-0 victory over Mansfield University in a PSAC field hockey contest at Vonnie Gros Field Tuesday afternoon.

West Chester (9-6, 5-2 PSAC) remains in a tie for third-place with Millersville, in the PSAC Standings.

The Golden Rams controlled much of the match, holding a 28-1 advantage in shots with 22 of those 28 attempts on goal. Mansfield goalkeeper Laura Lawson made 17 saves in the cage for the Mountaineers.

Paustian opened the scoring five minutes in with a wicked shot from a tough angle on the left side of the cage. She then doubled the lead in the 17th minute with a superb individual effort, dribbling through Mansfield's defense, and then hooking a shot around Lawson as she charged out of the cage to cut down the angle.

Toppi added a goal, off an assist from Marnie Kusakavitch (Pittston, Pa./Holy Redeemer), three minutes before halftime to make it a 3-0 score at the break.

Kusakavitch blasted a slap shot past Lawson 10 minutes into the second half to make it 4-0, before Toppi closed out the scoring by roofing a penalty stroke into the upper left-hand corner of the cage.

Sarah Krause (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) was credited with just one save in the shutout win.

West Chester heads to Mercyhurst University on Saturday for another PSAC showdown with the Lakers.
