ERIE, Pa. - Four second-half goals lifted 10th-ranked West Chester to a 5-1 victory over host Mercyhurst in a PSAC field hockey contest Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (10-6, 6-2 PSAC) remains in a tie for third place with Millersville while stretching its winning streak to five straight games. Mercyhurst falls to 2-13 overall and 2-7 in the league.
Rachal Toppi (Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) registered a hat trick in the win, scoring her 17th, 18th and 19th goals on the season. Teammate
Marnie Kusakavitch (Pittston, Pa./Holy Redeemer) scored a pair of second-half goals as well to propel the Golden Rams to the victory.
Kaitlin Hatch (Sewell, N.J./Washington Twp.) added a pair of assists for the Golden Rams.
Dayle Paustian (Martinsville, N.J./Bridgewater-Raritan) recorded the only other point for the Rams.
Sarah Krause (Lancaster, Pa./Conestoga Valley) made two saves, picking up her 10th win of the season.
West Chester hosts Millersville in a battle for third place in the conference standings next Wednesday at 4 pm at Vonnie Gros Field.
