Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - On their final day in the Sunshine State, the No. 21 Golden Rams split their Friday doubleheader. After dropping the first game against Grand Valley State (12-1) by a score of 3-0, West Chester rebounded with a 5-1 victory over Molloy College.
WCU (20-2) was unable to get much going in game one.
Madison Kelly (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) and
Cat Hammer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) accounted for WCU's only two hits, both singles.
WCU was unable to get a runner into scoring position in game one.
Amanda Houck (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) suffered the loss for the Golden Rams. Houck (8-2) threw a complete game and gave up three runs on six hits. Houck walked two and struck out three.
West Chester was able to rebound in game two behind an outstanding performance inside the circle from
Katie Erb (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone). Erb (6-0) went the distance, allowing one run on four hits. Erb struck out seven Molloy batters.
The WCU offense scored five runs on eight hits, and eight different WCU bats accounted for the hits.
Hammer and
Laura Altenburger (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) both homered in game two. The home runs were their fourth and second of the season, respectively.
Alyssa Herion (Avon Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) and
Anna Mae Walker (Harrisburg, Pa./Cedar Cliff) both doubled in game two.
WCU hosts Goldey- Beacom College in a non-conference doubleheader on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
