Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. - Senior
Katie Erb (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) picked up her second and third saves of the season in the Golden Rams' Saturday evening split doubleheader sweep of Saint Rose (7-1) and Southern Indiana (6-3) at the PFX Games in Clermont, Fla.
Erb's nine career saves is now third all-time in PSAC history and she is three saves shy of becoming the PSAC Career Saves Leader.
With the two wins in the Sunshine State, West Chester extends their 2016 unbeaten streak to 12 games.
A pair of WCU sophomore arms,
Brooke Harner (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett) and
Amanda Houck (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley), picked up their fifth and six wins of the season, respectively.
Harner (5-0) threw 5.2 innings in game one, allowing one run on five hits and three walks. Harner struck out three Saint Rose batters.
Houck (6-0) tossed six innings inside the circle and allowed three runs, two of which were earned. Houck recorded six strike outs, while allowing six hits and issuing two walks to Southern Indiana.
The Rams' 1-2-3 punch of
Alyssa Herion (Avon Grove, Pa./Avon Grove),
Madison Kelly (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall), and
Sara Ercolani (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) all recorded multi-hit games in game one.
In addition,
Monica Twardowski (Boothwyn, Pa./Padua Academy) and
Sarah Walasavage (Minersville, Pa./Minersville) played a pivotal role turning the bottom of the lineup over several times. Both Twardowski and Walasavage had multi-hit games in game one.
Twardowski ignited the game two scoring with a one-out single in the bottom of the second inning. Walasavage followed with an RBI double off the outfield fence to push the lead to 3-0.
Cat Hammer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) blasted a home run in game two. The homer was her first of the season.
Ercolani, Walasavage, and
Laura Altenburger (Feasterville, Pa./Neshaminy) collected multi-hit games in game two.
West Chester returns to the diamond tomorrow evening in Clermont, Fla for a split doubleheader versus Ferris State (10-2) and Salem International (5-3). Games begin at 5 p.m. and 7 p.m.
