No. 12 West Chester Posts Pair of Mercy-Rule Wins to Break Single-Season Wins Record

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The 12th-ranked Golden Rams collected 21 hits and held Goldy-Beacom College scoreless en route to breaking the school's single-season wins record on Tuesday afternoon.
 
West Chester (43-5) tied the record with an 8-0 (6 inn) win in the opener and broke the record with an 8-0 (5 inn) victory in the nightcap.
 
Senior Katie Erb (Douglassville, Pa./Daniel Boone) and Brooke Harner (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett) combined for a shutout in game one. Erb (12-1) allowed five hits and walked two in five innings of work, while striking out four batters. Harner tossed the final inning and struck out two in a perfect inning.
 
In game two, Harner (17-1) hurled a two-hit complete-game shutout. In five innings inside the circle, Harner struck out six Goldey-Beacom batters.
 
Cat Hammer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) hit her ninth home run of the season in the opener. In the second game of the twinbill, freshman Alyssa Herion (Avon Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) launched her team-leading tenth home run of the season.
 
In addition to a 3-for-5 day at the plate, Sarah Walasavage (Minersville, Pa./Minersville) swiped four bases and scored three times.
 
Junior first baseman Micaela McSpadden (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood) finished the day 4-for-6.
 
West Chester travels to Sheperdstown, WV tomorrow for a non-conference doubleheader against Shepherd University at 3 p.m.
