WEST CHESTER, Pa. – West Chester's softball team pulled off a sweep of its PSAC East doubleheader against Kutztown with a 2-1 eighth-inning win in game one and an 8-0 victory in game two in five innings Saturday afternoon.
The Golden Rams (31-3, 6-0 PSAC) battled down the stretch in the game one as both teams were tied 1-1 heading in the bottom of the eighth. Then with the bases loaded,
Micaela McSpadden (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood) worked the count full and eventually walked in the winning run for the team's 30th victory of the season.

Amanda Houck (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) went 6.2 innings, holding the Golden Bears to one run, while striking out two and walking four.
Brooke Harner (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett) came into the game to get out of a jam in the top of the seventh and then held down Kutztown in the eighth for the win. Harner (13-0) went on shutout Kutztown by striking out eight and only allowing three hits in game two.
McSpadden went 3-for-3 at the plate, scoring one run.
Madison Kelly (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) added a liner to center field, knocking in two RBIs on her 2-for-3 stand to increase the lead to four.
Sara Ercolani (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) smashed her third home run of the season with a high fly ball to left field to open up the scoring, before the six-run spot that the Golden Rams put up in the bottom of the second.
West Chester hits the road for a non-conference doubleheader against Philadelphia University on Monday at 2:30 p.m.
