JOHNSTOWN, Pa. - The Golden Rams' women's soccer team picked up their second win of the season in as many trys Saturday, after defeating homestanding Pitt-Johnstown, 5-0, in their first road game of the season.
West Chester got off to a quick start Saturday morning against the Mountain Cats, scoring its first of four goals in the opening half 15 minutes into the contest. Erica Hansen (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) found the back of the net for her first tally of the year.
The Golden Rams followed up that goal by scoring three more before halftime. Recording her first collegiate goal was midfielder Jenny Bail (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley). Next, the Golden Rams capitalized on a corner kick where Lexi Brown (Levittown, Pa./Pennsbury) headed the ball into the back of the next. Kaitlyn McFadden (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) posted her first goal of the season with a shot coming from the top of the box. Lastly, West Chester's Gabrielle Termini (Mountain Top, Pa./Crestwood) to finish with a final of 5-0.Â
The Golden Rams' defense was stellar throughout the contest as it held the Mountain Cats tojust two shots, outshooting them 32-2.
Senior goalkeeper Alex Srolis (Chester Springs, Pa./Downingtown East) receives the win, advancing her record to 2-0.
The Rams return home for their next game on Friday against Mercyhurst University at 3:30 p.m.
