WEST CHESTER, Pa. - On a beautiful fall afternoon, the West Chester University women's soccer team (16-2-1) hosted Gannon (13-4-2) in the PSAC semifinal at Rockwell field. The Golden Rams went on to win by a final score of 2-1 and advance to the PSAC Final.
How it happened:
- The first half was evenly matched with West Chester recording five shots while Gannon recorded three but neither team was able to break through sending the match to the half tied at 0.
- Gannon broke through first in the 54th minute when Sarah Kaiser took an assist from Taylor Lewis to give the Golden Knights a 1-0 lead.
- West Chester answered back just two minutes later when Jenny Bail (Carlisle, Pa./Cumberland Valley) took an assist from Hannah Grandell (West Chester, Pa./Unionville) to give tie the game at 1-1.
- Linzi Wolfe (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown) played the hero in the 86th minute when she took an assist from Claire Jacobs (Chambersburg, Pa./Chambersburg) to give West Chester the 2-1 victory.
Inside the Numbers:
- West Chester outshot Gannon by a 12-8 margin including an 8-5 advantage in shots on goal.
- West Chester also held a huge 7-2 edge in corner kicks.
- McKenna Mullin(Langhorne, Pa./Neshaminy) Â worked hard in net making four big saves to earn the semifinal victory.
