West Chester Drops Leadoff Classic Contest To Trevecca Nazarene, 6-1

CLEARWATER, Fla. – Trevecca Nazarene jumped on top early and never looked back in ending West Chester's three game season-opening win streak at the NFCA Leadoff Classic with a 6-1 victory.
 
West Chester (3-1) left 11 base runners on in the loss while Trevecca Nazarene (1-3) broke things open with a four-run third. Only Sara Ercolani's (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) solo shot in the bottom of the seventh spoiled the shutout.
 
Trevecca Nazarene added single tallies in both the fourth and sixth to carry a 6-0 advantage in to the bottom of the seventh. Ercolani was responsible for two of the Golden Rams' seven hits in the contest.
 
Emily Maseth (1-1) (Westminster, Md./Westminster) started and was collared with the loss. She lasted 4.2 innings, surrendering five runs, four of them earned, while walking three and striking out one. She threw two wild pitches and hit a batter.
 
West Chester takes on Hillsdale College Sunday morning, before heading back to the Commonwealth State. First pitch is set for 9 a.m.
