WEST CHESTER, Pa. – The Golden Rams dropped a tough one against East Stroudsburg, falling 74-61 in a PSAC East matchup inside Hollinger Field House Saturday afternoon.
West Chester (9-13, 9-9) was only down by five at the half, before East Stroudsburg's third quarter outburst (15-7, 11-7 PSAC). The Warriors went on a 13-0 in the third quarter to extend their lead.
The Golden Rams picked up the pace in the fourth quarter, but it was not enough to overcome the Warriors' attack. Head Coach Kiera Wooden's squad shot 37.3 percent from the field (22-59) and 25.0 percent from behind the arc (4-16).
Turnovers were a key issue for the Golden Rams, tallying a total of 23 this afternoon. Despite the turnovers, West Chester cut the deficit to 10 points with 1:29 remaining.
Two players found themselves in double figures, including
Porscha Speller (Lancaster, Pa. / Lancaster Catholic) and
Camden Boehner (Gettysburg, Pa. / Gettysburg).
Speller produced a team high 13 points for the Golden Rams, while also accounting for seven rebounds, three assist and two steals.
Boehner also earned 11 points throughout the game as well as an assist and a steal.
Alexis Anderson (Allentown, Pa. / Louis E. Dieruff) and
Gabrielle Troisi (Norristown, Pa. / Pope John Paul II) each added eight points for the afternoon.
Meanwhile,
Jenna Widdicombe (Pottstown, Pa. /Pope John Paul II) put up six points and 10 rebounds.
Mariah Traywick (Limerick, Pa. / Spring-Ford) and
Tori Smick (Pilesgrove, N. J. / Woodstown) also produced six points.
East Stroudsburg's Imani Brown produced a game-high 29 points for the visiting team. She was lights out from downtown, going 6 of 11 from the perimeter.
Allison Howard was also a major contributor by producing 15 points and a pair of blocks. Noelle Powell added 10 points, three steals and a pair of assists.
This is the first time since February 2nd, 1994 that the Golden Rams have fell to East Stroudsburg inside Hollinger Field House. The loss snapped a 11-game winning streak at home.
The Golden Rams remain third in the PSAC East after dropping three in a row, only trailing Shippensburg and East Stroudsburg in the standings.
West Chester returns for its second consecutive home game inside Hollinger Field House on Wednesday evening in a PSAC East match-up against Shippensburg at 5:30 p.m.
