Cat Hammer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) hit a grand slam, and
Sarah Walasavage (Minersville, Pa./Minersville) added a two-run shot, as West Chester cruised to an 11-0 shutout of West Virginia State shortened to five innings Saturday.

West Chester (5-2) picked up a pair of wins on its first day at the Snowbird Tournament. The Golden Rams beat Glenville State, 9-3, earlier in the day.

The Golden Rams scored six in the third, four in the fourth and one more in the fifth to get out of the contest after five innings due to the 8-run rule.

Wally's two-run shot came during the six-run third that broke open a scoreless game. Hammer also singled in a run. She would finish with a career-high five RBI on the day.
Courtney Stump (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) hit a two-run double, and
Heidi McCollester (West Chester, Pa./Henderson) hit a sacrifice fly to account for the six-run frame.

Amanda Houck (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) (2-1) tossed a complete-game shutout, scattering three hits while walking two, striking out one and hitting two batters.
West Chester continues its stay at the Snowbird Tournament Sunday with a pair of games. The Golden Rams will take on New Haven, before battling Molloy.
