Box Score
MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Emily Maseth's (Westminster, Md./Westminster) first career home run was a grand slam in the bottom of the fifth inning, and that was all left-hander
Amanda Houck (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) needed as West Chester shut out New Haven, 4-0, Sunday morning at the Snowbird Tournament.
West Chester (6-2) remained perfect on the weekend at the Snowbird Tournament, handing New Haven (4-1) its first loss of the season.
Micaela McSpadden (Spotswood, N.J./Spotswood), Alyssa Herion (West Grove, Pa./Avon Grove) and
Courtney Stump (Kutztown, Pa./Kutztown) all singled ahead of Maseth with one out in the fifth. The freshman then blasted a shot to left that proved to be the only scoring in the ballgame. But, that was all Houck (3-1) needed to record her second three-hit shutout in as many games.
Houck tossed a complete game, striking out eight and not walking anybody.
The 7-8-9 hitters in West Chester's batting order were a combined 5-for-6 in the contest.
West Chester takes on Molloy at 12 p.m. Sunday in the final game of the Snowbird Tournament.
