WEST CHESTER, Pa. –
Cat Hammer (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) hit two home runs, and

Â
West Chester (25-7, 3-1 PSAC East) dropped the nightcap to Shippensburg (17-16, 2-4), 6-0.
Â
Hammer and
Madison Kelly (Whitehall, Pa./Whitehall) each hit solo shots to stake the Golden Rams to a 2-1 lead, after the Raiders had gone on top early with an unearned run. However, it was Hammer's three-run shot in the fifth that pushed the lead to 7-1. Hammer finished the game with four RBI while Kelly went 3-for-3 with a pair of runs scored. Together, Hammer and Kelly accounted for five of West Chester's seven hits in the opener.
Â
Houck (17-2) threw a complete-game, seven-hitter. She allowed one earned run and struck out seven.
Â
In the nightcap, Shippensburg's Taryn Wilson (4-3) came on in relief in the third inning and kept the Golden Rams' bats silent. West Chester left 11 runners on base and went a combined 0-for-11 with runners in scoring position. The Rams left the bases loaded in the first and the third innings – each time with less than two outs and did not have anything to show for it.
Â
Brooke Harner (Chadds Ford, Pa./Kennett) suffered her first loss of the season inside the circle, falling to 4-1 on the year.
Â
West Chester travels to Millersville on Sunday for another PSAC East conference doubleheader.
