WEST CHESTER, Pa. - On a mild and overcast day, West Chester University men's soccer team (1-1) would fall to visiting Georgian Court (2-0-1) in non-conference action from inside Rockwell Field. The Lions would go on to win by a final score of 4-3 in overtime.
In the first half, the two teams were evenly matched until the 37th minute when Georgian Court broke through thanks to a sliding goal in the box from Joel Quist off a cross from the left side of the box from Quentin Bouly.
Bouly would earn a goal of his own just 48 seconds later when he chipped a goal from just outside the box over the keepers head into the back of the net.
In the second half, West Chester's offense came out hot as they applied constant pressure to the Georgian Court defense. The Golden Rams would break through in the 59th minute when senior midfielder
Brett Glasco (
West Chester, Pa./Rustin) sent a rocket from the top of the box into the back of the net to trim the deficit to one.
The Golden Rams would not stop there as senior
Brett Beaumont (
Bensalem, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) capitalized off a bouncing ball in the box to tie the score at 2-2.
West Chester's offense would break through one more time three minutes later when freshman
Doug Goitia (
Mount Pocono, Pa./Pocono Mountain East) put away his first career goal on a breakaway to give West Chester its first lead of the day at 3-2.
This lead would not last as the Georgian Court offense would respond in the 84th minute when Spencer Dunn turned a bouncing ball in the box into a goal to tie the score at three apiece. The game would head into overtime where Vinicuis Monteiro drove a ball past a diving goalie to give the Lions the OT victory.
