Golden Rams Storm Past Seton Hill, 5-0

GREENSBURG, Pa.-The West Chester field hockey team(6-3, 1-2 PSAC) took to the road on Saturday morning as they traveled to Seton Hill(3-7, 0-2 PSAC) looking to halt a three game losing streak. This is exactly what they would do as they went on to win by a final score of 5-0.
How it Happened:
  • West Chester opened the scoring early when Kaitlyn Hatch (Sewell,N.J./Washington Twp.) scored her 7th goal of the season just five minutes in when she knocked a rebound into the open net to give West Chester the early 1-0 lead.
  • Mackenzie Mlkvy(Berlin,N.J./Eastern) would get in on the scoring 21 minutes later when she used a deflection from Caitlyn Kelly(Coatesville, Pa./Bishop Shanahan) to move the lead to 2-0 heading to the half.
  • In the second half the scoring would continue when Kelly took an assist from Hatch to make the score 3-0.
  • Mlkvy would get on the board once again in the 45th minute when she would rip a shot from the post off an assist from Sophie Rupert to take a 4-0 lead.
  • Hatch recorded a goal of her own in the 61st minute when she took an assist from Rachel Toppi(Glassboro, N.J./Glassboro) to make the lead 5-0.
Inside the Numbers;
  • WCU held a commanding 23-2 advantage in shots and a 13-1 edge in shots on goal.
  • The Golden Rams also held 11-3 advantage in penalty corners
  • This is the second meeting this season between the two teams and West Chester has won both by a combined score of 12-0.
  • WCU has held a 53-4 advantage in shots over the two meetings so far this year.
  • Marissa Elizardo(North Wales, Pa./North Penn) earned the victory playing 57th minutes and she did not face a shot. Katie Dowling(Yorktown, Va./Tabb) entered and played the final 12 minutes recording one save to secure the shutout victory.
