WEST CHESTER, Pa.- In search of a victory to avoid its first losing streak of the season the No. 7 West Chester University women's soccer team (8-2-1, 7-2-1 PSAC) returned home to face Cal (Pa.) (1-10-1, 0-10-1). West Chester got the victory it was looking for picking up a convincing 3-0 victory over the visiting Vulcans.
How it Happened:
- In the 13th minute, West Chester struck first when Madison Baxter (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) took a well-timed pass from Kaitlyn McFadden (Philadelphia, Pa./Archbishop Ryan) to give the Golden Rams the early 1-0 lead.
- The lead grew in the 45th minute, when Nikki Zaso (Cherry Hill, N.J./Cherry Hill East) took an assist from Julia Kirkpatrick (Brick, N.J./Brick Township) to give the Golden Rams the 2-0 lead heading to the halftime break.
- Kirkpatrick registered a goal of her own on a header in the 74th minute, off a beautiful assist from Dani Cady (Yardley, Pa./Pennsbury) to extend the lead to 3-0.
Inside the Numbers:
- West Chester outshot its guests by a gaping 16-1 margin including a 12-1 margin in shots on goal. West Chester also held a decisive 7-0 advantage in corner kicks.
- Brooke Myers (Middletown, Pa./Middletown Area) had a quiet day in goal making just save to pick up her first victory of the season while her counterpart Gianna Sinatra worked hard through the afternoon making eight big saves to try and slow down the West Chester offense.
