NEW YORK – West Chester University's women's swimming & diving squad showed a lot of strength and a lot of depth in a 188-112 victory over host New York University in Saturday's season opener at NYU
West Chester (1-0) won 13 different events, including both relay wins, while taking runner-up status six times.
Nadia Mulder qualified for NCAAs on both boards, winning the 1m Dive with 285.98. She finished runner-up on the 3m Dive with 270.08.
How It Happened
- Julia McCarthy won the 200-yard freestyle in 1:56.52 and the 200 IM in 2:11.01
- Ann Carozza won three events in her first college meet. She took first place in the 200 butterfly in 2:08.05 – winning by more than four seconds, the 100 free (52.34) and 100 fly (56.69).
- Carozza was also part of the 200 medley relay team that won in 1:46.94.
- Madi Grenoble won the 100 breaststroke in 1:07.04. Katelyn Chick was right behind her in 1:07.68
- Chick won the 200 breaststroke in 2:27.94. West Chester took the top three spots in that event. Grenoble was second and Cameron Ducey third.
Inside the Meet Results
- McCarthy was part of the 400 free relay win to go with her two individual wins.
- Mikaela Lantz won the 50 free and was on the 200 medley relay that won.
- Liz Miller was a double winner in both the 100 and 200 backstrokes while also winning on the 200 medley relay team.
