WEST CHESTER, Pa.- Searching for a way to advance to its first PSAC Championship game since 2004 the West Chester University men's soccer team renewed acquaintances with an old rival is East Stroudsburg at Rockwell Field on Friday afternoon. West Chester got the win it was looking for as the Golden Rams captured the 1-0 victory over its rivals to advance to the PSAC Championship game.
How it Happened:
- In the 33rd minute, 2018 PSAC Defensive Player of the Year Kyle Hoops (Phoenixville, Pa./Great Valley) showed his offensive prowess scoring on a header near the far post off an assist from Brett Miller (Washington Crossing, Pa./Council Rock North) to give West Chester the 1-0 lead.
- East Stroudsburg applied heavy pressure for the remainder of the contest particularly in the final 20 minutes but strong defensive efforts from the Golden Rams backline kept the Warriors off the scoreboard in the 1-0 victory.
Inside the Numbers:
- West Chester out shot its guests by a 16-9 margin including an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal. East Stroudsburg did manage to hold a slight 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.
- Will Marshall (North Versailles, Pa./East Allegheny) made two saves on the afternoon while his counterpart Will Borema made seven saves in the loss.
