WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The West Chester University men's tennis team took a step outside of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) today, as the squad welcomed the Griffins from Chestnut Hill College to the South Campus Courts for a match on Tuesday afternoon.
The Golden Rams (0-12) battled in three very close doubles contests and
Norman Patten (Warminster, Pa. / Council Rock South) earned his fourth win of the season at No. 1 singles but WCU fell 8-1 to a Chestnut Hill squad (9-5) that has now won its last three matches overall.
The duo of Patten and
Lucien DeCecco (Exton, PA / Downingtown East) started the afternoon by dropping second flight doubles 8-6, before the team of
Gavin Kenny (Hanover, PA / South Western)Â and
Adam Courtemanche (Greenville, RI / Smithfield) fell 8-3 at position three. The tandem ofÂ
Lucas Von der Heyde (Exton, Pa. / Great Valley) and
Charlie Rushing (Yardley, Pa. / Pennsbury) ended doubles play with a highly-contested 8-5 defeat at first flight to put the visitors on top 3-0 heading into singles action.
Patten took home West Chester's lone point of the afternoon at No. 1 singles, defeating CHC's Felix Andre 6-0,6-2 to give the senior his fourth singles victory of the 2017-18 campaign.Â
The Golden Rams return to the South Campus Courts tomorrow, April 11, when the team welcomes ASA College to town for a match at 2:00 p.m.
