Golden Rams Drop 8-1 Decision to Chestnut Hill at Home

WEST CHESTER, Pa. - The West Chester University men's tennis team took a step outside of Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) today, as the squad welcomed the Griffins from Chestnut Hill College to the South Campus Courts for a match on Tuesday afternoon.

The Golden Rams (0-12) battled in three very close doubles contests and Norman Patten (Warminster, Pa. / Council Rock South) earned his fourth win of the season at No. 1 singles but WCU fell 8-1 to a Chestnut Hill squad (9-5) that has now won its last three matches overall.

The duo of Patten and Lucien DeCecco (Exton, PA / Downingtown East) started the afternoon by dropping second flight doubles 8-6, before the team of Gavin Kenny (Hanover, PA / South Western) and Adam Courtemanche (Greenville, RI / Smithfield) fell 8-3 at position three. The tandem of  Lucas Von der Heyde (Exton, Pa. / Great Valley) and Charlie Rushing (Yardley, Pa. / Pennsbury) ended doubles play with a highly-contested 8-5 defeat at first flight to put the visitors on top 3-0 heading into singles action.

Patten took home West Chester's lone point of the afternoon at No. 1 singles, defeating CHC's Felix Andre 6-0,6-2 to give the senior his fourth singles victory of the 2017-18 campaign.

The Golden Rams return to the South Campus Courts tomorrow, April 11, when the team welcomes ASA College to town for a match at 2:00 p.m.
