Press Conference
SALEM, Va. –
The West Chester University softball team (45-15) saw its 2018 season come to a close on Friday afternoon as the Golden Rams fell to the University of North Georgia Night Hawks by a final score of 4-0.

Bri Garber (Willow Street, Pa./Lampeter-Strasburg) led off the game with a double to right center but West Chester failed to push her across to keep the score tied at 0-0 heading to the bottom of the first.

North Georgia had a huge bottom of the second inning, scoring four runs thanks to two RBI doubles and an RBI single, which allowed the Nighthawks to take a commanding 4-0 lead.

West Chester threatened in the seventh inning, getting Sara Ercolani (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) to second base with no outs but West Chester was unable to bring her around to score, thus, giving North Georgia the 4-0 victory.

West Chester struggled throughout the afternoon with runners in scoring position as the Golden Rams stranded seven runners in scoring position throughout the afternoon.
Amanda Houck (Gap, Pa./Pequea Valley) saw her historic career come to a close on Friday afternoon as she took the loss going the distance surrendering six hits and four runs while walking one and striking out three over the course of her six innings of work.

Kylee Smith earned the win in the circle for North Georgia going six innings scattering just three hits and one walk while striking out five. Amber Johns entered in relief of Smith and tossed a scoreless seventh inning surrendering just one walk over the course of her one inning of work.

This brings West Chester's impressive 2018 campaign to a close as the Golden Rams end their NCAA Tournament run with a record of 5-2 after going 5-0 through the Atlantic Regional before dropping its first two games in Salem, Va. in the National Finals.
