BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - No. 21 Bloomsburg utilized its home field advantage to jump out on top early and never look back in a 2-0 win over visiting and eighth-ranked West Chester Wednesday afternoon at Steph Pettit Stadium.
The Golden Rams (7-2, 6-2 PSAC) fell behind in the conference standings as well with the setback to Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference rival Bloomsburg (9-1, 7-1 PSAC) as the battle for second place in the league standings went the way of the maroon & gold.
How It Happened:
- Bloomsburg took action early with an unassisted goal within the first five minutes of the game by Natalie Holmes.
- Shortly thereafter, in the 25th minute, Bloomsburg scored another on a penalty kick opportunity by Lauren Hoelke.
- In the second half, both teams were unable to capitalize offensively with West Chester and Bloomsburg taking five shots each.
- Junior Jesse Magee (Bucks County, Pa./Council Rock South) and senior Madison Baxter (Downingtown, Pa./Downingtown East) each took a pair of shots in the game.
- Senior Brooke Myers (Hershey, Pa./Middletown Area) made one save in goal for the Golden Rams.
Inside The Numbers:
- Bloomsburg outshot West Chester 10-8 while holding a slim 3-2 edge in shots on goal.
- This afternoon's loss drops West Chester to 7-2 on the season with both losses coming opposite teams in the PSAC.
West Chester is in action again on Saturday when it hosts Kutztown in a matchup beginning at 12 p.m.
